Steptember Committee

PROVAIL's newest event, Steptember, is taking off fast! The first ever Steptember NW was held in September 2014 and it was a huge success. We had an outpour of support from the running and athletic communities. The Steptember Committee has been such an important part of this success. We are so thrilled to already be working toward Steptember NW 2015.

What is Steptember?

Steptember is a month-long health and wellness initiative designed to improve fitness and have a positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities. Participants form teams of four and each team challenges themselves to take 10,000 steps a day. Teams track their daily step count (by wearing a pedometer) or other fitness activities and record the total on the Steptember website. We've taken things further here in the Northwest, by hosting a series of community-based events, The Energy Series Events, to take this event off-line and get the community together.

Steptember is also a fundraiser, building awareness and support for children with disabilities and PROVAIL. 50% of all proceeds will be restricted to help families pay for therapy services and receive the equipment their children need through The Determined Parents Foundation. The other 50% will support PROVAIL in pursuing our mission to support people with disabilities fulfill their life choices. Learn more about Steptember.

Responsibilities and Time Commitment:

  • As part of the Steptember committee, we request you attend Committee meetings, held once a month and ad hoc if needed.
  • Spread the word about Steptember and the PROVAIL mission by recruiting people to participate as individuals and help the committee connect to potential corporate partners.
  • We will need at least one committee member to participate in the planning and implementation of each September Community Event. This will include:
    • Brainstorming ideas for the specific community event and working with staff to create an implementation plan.
    • Assisting in securing locations for events.
    • Engaging with sponsors and encouraging donations (food trucks, water bottles, etc.) to enhance the guests' experience.
    • Working with the committee and staff team to recruit day-off volunteers
    • Engaging guests to attend the event through your personal and professional networks, social media, event marketing, etc.

Luncheon Committee

The PROVAIL Luncheon is more of a PROVAIL Family Reunion. This is the best time of the year for the PROVAIL Family to come together to see the amazing work being done by PROVAIL and the support of the community to ensure our success. We celebrate those who support our work and share our hopes for the coming year. The Luncheon Committee is a vital part of helping this event grow. Starting in January of 2015, the PROVAIL Luncheon Committee will help spread the word about the PROVAIL Luncheon to help us continue to grow this great event.

Responsibilities and Time Commitment:

As a new committee – the founding members will set the roles and responsibilities of the committee members.

Golf Gala Committee

The PROVAIL Golf Classic & Gala is hosted by the Pacific Northwest Insurance Council (PNWIC). The PNWIC and Gala Committee are instrumental to the success of PROVAIL's largest fundraising event. Having raised almost $2 million since its inception, this event is the highlight of the PROVAIL calendar. The 2015 Golf Classic & Gala is bound to be the best yet – as we're trying something new. We've simply outgrown being able to host them on the same day and the Gala Committee will be essential to helping us pack the room with energy, excitement, and engaged people who want to support PROVAIL.
