In·clu·city: creating an inclusive city and building inclusivity

What does an inclusive community look like, and what will it take to get there? Inclucity is a movement that we are initiating to improve inclusivity throughout the Puget Sound. We aim to do this through a variety of events throughout the year to engage community members in discussion about social issues and rights surrounding disability and inclusion.

Inclucity Event

The first Inclucity event began in 2016; transitioning from a traditional, sit-down luncheon to an interactive, hands-on event. At Inclucity, Puget Sound organizations present technological and community advancements that their organization is making to support people with disabilities, to the public. We hope that through this event, we are able to contribute towards the removal of barriers experienced in our communities to create a truly inclusive Northwest.

Advisory Board Function
Advisory Board members work closely with the PROVAIL development staff to set the theme for the Inclucity event and strategize how to engage attendees into the movement. The committee will also contribute by connecting businesses and organization as vendors, planning details of the event and recruiting guests for the event.

As a member of the Inclucity Advisory Board we request that you:

  • Contribute to the conversation on how we can engage the broader community in creating an inclusive community
    • Design the program and speaker series
    • Engage vendors and additional organizations to highlight their work
  • Attend committee meetings once a month, via conference call or in-person
  • Participate in the day-of event; as a guest, a 'Champion of Inclusion' or as an event volunteer

Interested in joining us? Our first monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 26th from 9:30 - 11 AM at the Swedish Cultural Center in Westlake.

Contact Colleen Kennedy at or (206) 826-1033 for more information.
